From the Middle Ages to around 1750 the eastern part of Afghanistan was recognized as being a part of India while its western parts parts were included in Khorasan. Two of the four main capitals of Khorasan (Balkh and Herat) are now located in Afghanistan.

Chronology. The general beginning of the war starts on the 28th of October though fighting had started as early as December 23rd between Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Turkey and Russia had started their invasions several days earlier before the declarations of war between NATO, and its allies against ACMF, and its allies.

The 2003 invasion of Iraq was the first stage of the Iraq War. According to U.S. President George W. Bush and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, the coalition aimed "to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people."
In the Mongol invasion of Khwarezmia (1219–1221), Genghis Khan invaded the region from the northeast in one of his many conquests to create the huge Mongol Empire. Thereafter most parts of Afghanistan other than the extreme south-eastern remained under Mongol rule as part of the Ilkhanate and Chagatai Khanate.
